It’s quite a mix this time around; many opportunities to submit to competitions and general reading periods alike, along with several calls for short story collections and full-length novels or memoirs—and a good selection of residency opportunities as well. Also, I’ve included a few of those generative exercises; prompts to inspire new creative directions and give you a place to submit brand new work.

My advice for this month: Pull out the story that you like best, and show it to audiences far and wide. Not everyone will applaud it, but the more you share it, the higher the chance that someone out there might love it a lot. So send your one most loved story to any and all of the submission opportunities this month where it might fit. Any and all. One story, many chances. I like the odds.
